Perfect Talons

I'm a bit of a Nail Varnish Addict. I can never seem to help myself when I walk past an aisle of tiny brightly coloured bottles!

With all the festivities coming up, I thought I'd share some of my fave polishes to wear throughout the season, from bright colour pops to gorgeous glittery top coats plus my secret weapon!

On my thumb is the super bright and glossy Models Own - Red Alert. It's a highly pigmented colour that glides on and dries really quickly. It's a really bright 'Christmassy' red and I love it!

On my forefinger is Kate Spade by Nails Inc - Big Apple Red. This red is slightly darker than the Models Own red but again offers great coverage and a gorgeous glossy colour, it's more of a traditional Christmas red and is perfect for any Santa related nail art you may have planned!

My middle finger is Rimmel with Rita Ora 60 Second - 203 Lose Your Lingerie. It's a gorgeous girly pink colour that is just crying out for a super glittery top coat. It is quick drying but does take a few coats. I used two coats of every colour in these pics but I felt this colour could do with at least one more coat as it was a tad patchy in places.

On my ring finger I'm wearing Models Own HyperGel - Blue Glint. I purchased this in Bluewater when Models Own had a 6 for £20 offer and I'm so glad I did! I cannot rate the HyperGel range any higher, it's glossy, quick drying and because it's similar to a gel (without the hassle of UV lights) it last's ages! I love this blue for Christmas as it would be perfect with snowflake nail art!

Finally my little finger is Models Own HyperGel - Purple Glare. It's a gorgeous almost lavender purple with a gorgeous coverage and because it's a HyperGel, lasts ages! I love this colour for Christmas with a ring finger covered in glitter!

The first glitter I went with Nails Inc - Lancelot Place. It's a clear top coat with a mix of large and small silver and black glitter pieces. There are large and small circle glitter and a mix of 'shards' of black and silver foil. It gives a great shine and glitter effect over any base polish!

Sorry about the weird photo on this one, this super fine glitter top coat from Ted Baker was so hard to photograph! It's a gorgeous silver/clear looking glitter thats really really fine and super shiney! It's one of my all time fave glitters! It comes in a Ted Baker Tin with a few other Nail Varnishes and the set is called Paint The Town Pretty. It's perfect for the winter season as it looks like snow!

This one is quiet hard to see but like the other glitter coats, I used only ONE coat! This is the Ted Baker Gold Shimmer colour available in the Paint The Town Pretty set. It's a gorgeous shimmery gold colour but it does need a few good coats. It looks stunning on a ring finger with the other nails in matt black, a proper statement colour!

The Last glitter I chose was us the Rimmel I Heart Lasting Finish - 500 Disco Ball. This is a lovely glitter, it has a mix of super small and smallish glitter circles in a mix of colours, like a disco ball! It has even coverage and doesn't seem to clump together, there is an even spread of different colour too so this is definitely a winner with me!

Now I have two more gorgeous colours to show you, a gorgeous gold and black and a lovely shimmery silver.
On the left we have Rimmel I Heart Lasting Finish - 239 Your Majesty. It's a gorgeous glittery/shimmery silver with great coverage! This is just one coat and I'd be more than happy to leave it as it is! It has a metallic finish, perfect for the festive party season! This would look great with the Nails Inc Lancelot Place on top!
On the right we have Missguided. I can't find a name for this colour anywhere but it's a black with gold & copper tones. It has a very subtle gold glitter running through it and again is a perfect one coat polish! I love wearing this with a gold glitter ring finger.

Finally, my total and utter love. It's such a life saver - O.P.I Glitter Off Base Coat.
Words cannot begin to explain how many hours of trying to remove glitter this little beauty has saved me from! It isn't very long lasting, it chips really easily and I've found if you shower/bath with it on it does tend to peel off but it's perfect for those special occasions!
The base coat goes on a milky white colour and it's good to go once it dries and turns clear, you can then just apply your polish of choice as usual.
Once your bored/done with your look simply push the edges until they come up a bit and peel it off! I have managed to get it off all in one go before but generally it comes off in pieces. However it's so much easier than soaking glitter in nail varnish or holding bits of cotton wool on your fingers with bit of foil for ages!

Until next time,
Becca
