Blogging 101 - Improving your Facebook

I don't know about you but I always find I struggle with Facebook! The majority of my traffic comes from Pinterest, Twitter & Bloglovin and I always feel like I'm never sure what to post on FB.
Worry no longer as I explain all!

Blogging 101 - Improving Your Facebook

Things are constantly changing on Facebook, like did you know if people don't interact with your page for 3 months it stops showing up? So you need to keep people engaged and interacting!
Although there are plenty of Bloggers groups on Facebook, it's not easy to get a large following. You want to not only post creative and interesting updates but ones that make people want to join in.

I always find some posts do really well while others dwindle and reach very few. It's totally hit and miss and I'd rather spend my time on social media sites that I know I get my traffic from! This is rather bizzarre as Facebook offers a whole range of things other social media platforms don't.
Facebook offers unlimited characters while Twitter only offers 140.

Be Yourself.
By that I mean don't change who you are on your Blog. Your Facebook should be just another social media platform and your blogs feel and personality shouldn't change. Don't post or re-share things you wouldn't do on other social media platforms.
No one wants to be bombarded with a load of cat memes or video reposts, they are following your blog because they want to hear about you!

Ask Open Ended Questions
Asking questions and interacting with your followers is a massive way of boosting your reach. When someone comments on a post it often shows up on friends timelines and it goes on from there. Make sure you get involved with any comments too! Always try to ask questions to do with your blog, no random crap!

Have An About Me
Make sure your information is up to date and correct. Make sure you have a picture not just a logo. People enjoy blogs for the person and like to see them and their life! Use your logo if you have one as the Cover Photo but try to use the same profile picture as all your other social media platforms.
This also leads in to making sure you update regularly. When you pop up on peoples timelines frequently people will remember you and are more likely to interact. Don't over post and spam peoples timelines though, try to get a nice regular posting schedule!

Schedule Posts
You use schedules for Twitter, why don't you with Facebook? Why post something at a time when everyone's at work/school/college and unlikely to be looking at their phones?
This will not only improve your reach but you should notice an increase in interaction. With smartphones now a common thing, people tend to flip through their social media during lunch breaks, commuting and first thing in the morning, so it's a good idea to post then.
Just think about the times you check your Facebook and go from there!

I hope this helps you out with any Facebook problems you've been having. If you have any hints and tips please do share them in the comments below!

  1. Great post. I really need to get round to scheduling posts on Facebook!

  2. I didn't know you could schedule posts on Facebook, that's pretty good. I always try to ask open ended questions and engage with my followers! x

  3. This was so helpful, Facebook is definitely the social media I need to work on more! Thank you! :) x

  4. I don't have a Facebook for my blog, I keep wondering whether or not I should get it. It seems like a lot of hassle! But if I do I'll definitely take these tips :)

  5. I did a heap of research on Facebook earlier this year as part of my year of going pro and although it's well known that third part scheduling apps are not good for reach, I also came to the conclusion that FB own scheduling doesn't seem to give you the same reach as "natural" posting, so I would say to use it with caution. Evenings are more or less the only time I post now as the reach difference is massive. A good evening post for me reaches far beyond my page follower numbers which is good news at least! :-)

    1. Really? I do the social media for my work place and I find lunch time posts always do a lot better than evenings! I've also found when I post naturally they never do as well as my scheduled. It's deffo worth playing around & experimenting though. Thanks for your comment & insight! Becca x

  6. Its really so nice post! i like very much thanks for sharing. Nebosh in chennai keep posting.
