Top Make-up Picks

How is it day 5 of my beauty week already?! Today I thought I'd share my favourite make-up picks. The items I just couldn't live without or always go back too.
I made it a bit of a challenge this year to go out of my comfort zone and explore products and brands I haven't used before. Some have been awesome and other's I've regretted but I have learned a lot!

I used to always go for high end designer brands. I love a good label, I just can't help it but during this year I've saved myself a fortune and found products like I adore. There are still the odd high end product that I wouldn't swap but generally I've found the mid range products are just as good, if not better than their high end competitors!

1. Makeup Revolution Ultra Brow
I love this kit. Plain and simple, it's a total and utter bargain at £7.99 and it's awesome. It offers so much more than high end brand products I've tried and I love the fact I don't have to pick between shades! You can read my whole review here - Makeup Revolution Ultra Brow Review

2. Mac Rebel Lipstick
I saw, I brought, I loved it. Gimme a berry lipstick and I'll be your best friend. This gorgeous Mac lipstick is just perfect, it's a gorgeous colour, amazing quality and even has a matching lip liner that looks just as amazing without the lipstick. You can read my review on it here - My First Mac Lipstick

3. George Asda Contour Kit
This little gem took me by surprise I will admit! I received it at a Christmas press event for George and I didn't have high hopes for it. I'm not ultra keen on the highlighter side of it but the dark contour is actually awesome. It's turned into my everyday contour palette and I pick it over my Urban Decay one! You can read my review on it here - George Asda Contour Kit

4. Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter
After reading all the hype about these highlighters I knew I had to try one. I finally got round to picking one up and instantly understood the amazing reviews. A gorgeous subtle shimmer and my perfect highlighter that didn't make me look like I'd grabbed the body glitter was born! You can read my review on it here - Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter Review

5. Rimmel Hide The Blemish Concealer
Can I let you into a little secret? Do you promise not to judge me? I haven't used a concealer for utter years. I just double layered foundation. I know! I did ask you not to judge me!
I finally took the plunge about a month ago and I'm so pleased I did. It makes the whole world of difference on the days I didn't get enough sleep or I've had a bit of a breakout. I even apply it on 'no makeup days' and it just gives me that bit of confidence I need! It's won a firm place in my make-up bag and it's a definite repurchase for me.

6. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
I am in a constant battle for a matte face. I hate looking shiny and do everything in my being to ensure I am matte at all times. This stuff is awesome, it's long lasting and I can touch up my make-up without it leaving my face looking cakey or overdone. I really rate the Rimmel pressed powders and I always have at least one on me!

7. Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
This is a liquid concealer that comes with a handy wand applicator. I buy it a shade too light and use it as a highlighter without the shimmer. Weird? Maybe but it works and due to it being a concealer it helps hide those bags under my eyes! I even purchased this in a few shades too dark and use it as a contour for those days I don't want to bother with various different contours and brushes!
All in all a awesome, diverse product that I will always have room for in my make-up bag.

8. Mac Simpsons Blusher Pink Sprinkles
Basically when I run out of this blusher I am either going to spend a week crying or have to spend £60 to buy it off someone on Amazon.
Words cannot express my love for this beautiful blush! It's from the limited edition Simpsons range and was worth every single penny. You still get the high quality we've all become accustomed too with Mac but it comes in amazing Simpson themed packaging and is the most amazing pink colour.

9. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
I know this isn't the cheapest foundation in world and it's currently not in my foundation collection but it's the be all and end all of foundations in my opinion. It lasts for ages, gives amazing coverage and blends like a dream.
If you haven't tried it, honestly this is the one you've been missing.

Have you tried any of these products?
Don't forget to check out the first 4 posts of my week of beauty!

Until next time,

  1. I used to use Rimmel's Hide the Concealer and I forgot how good it was, after reading this I might have to repurchase. Double Wear is definitely on my wishlist -I always hear such great things.

  2. I'm not a fan of the hide the blemish concealer but I love the majority of these products!
