Blogging Behind The Scenes

Bloggers are clever creatures. We only show you the things we want you to see, you'll never see that awful photo or hear much about our horrendous day. With this in mind I thought I'd share just what it's actually like behind all that marble, rose gold and perfectly primped hair.

I can't talk for all bloggers but for me it very often goes tits up. Yes, I do try really hard with my photography and I only pick the best few out of thousands that I take, meaning I have memory cards upon memory cards full of awful photos that have never seen the light of day.

Until now.

I'll start with product pictures.
From out of focus, to terrible layouts I've had it all. Trying to take photos in bad lighting, trying to rush it and ending up with a load of out of focus or half cut off photos and awful angles. There really is so much more to blogging than people give us credit for!

Then there's those pesky outfit posts. It's hard enough finding a photo you like of yourself, let alone when your in some awkward pose in a public place trying to make that new dress slay. From awkward angles, bad lighting and people walking in the background to moving too much, terrible outfit choices and getting your hair stuck in your lipstick, the world of fashion bloggers is a tough one!

How about those lovely travel inspired photos that leave you with wanderlust? You know those gorgeous shoots of the sea or beautiful buildings that you just want to book a flight and go see? Or those days out posts with fantastic photos of super interesting things to see and do... Yeah, they are always fun!

The best ones of all I've found are makeup and swatch related. It is so hard to get true to life colours to show in photos. An eyeshadow can look a completely different colour if even one cloud decides to grace the sky and trying to get a decent selfie of yourself when your all done up is always impossible isn't it?!

This is just the photography side of things too! Don't forget the complete and utter mind blanks, trying to think of new content, scheduling, updating social media, emails, the hours of editing and perfecting and the more technical side such as blog domains, layouts and stats!
Don't get me wrong, I do it because I love it but blogging certainly isn't easy which is why I thought I'd share some of my fails over the last two years. I started blogging for fun and I think we all need to laugh at ourselves now and then!

So there we have it! Being a blogger behind the scenes, from awful selfies to terrible travel pics it really is hard work!

Until next time,
Becca

  1. Love this post! I especially love the multi-tasking taking care of your little man whilst trying to take blog photos!
It isn't often you get to see this side of blogging and I think more bloggers should share the photos that didn't make the cut!

  2. Absolutely love this post! Nothing infuriates me more than people saying being a blogger is easy, and that we just get free stuff. They have no idea how many hours it takes to get the perfect photo, edit it, come up with the words, format the post, share the post, schedule tweets, correspond with the company and on and on and on. It's bloody hard work, and only if you love it will you stick at it. Really enjoyed seeing this blogging reality! x www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x
