Celebrating Summer With River Island

I've never really been a summer girl, I'm always the one complaining it's too hot and hiding behind a fan while eating my body weight in ice cream. This summer however is my second living next to the sea and I've kinda got the bug....

For the first time in about 14 years I've actually left the house in a pair of shorts, I've enjoyed hot summer days lazing about on the beach and I've even got a bit of a tan (don't tell my inner Goth...) so when River Island got in touch and asked if I'd like to style a dress* I knew I had too!

I opted for this beaut of a dress that with it's ruffles makes me feel as sassy af, I love a good maxi dress and River Island certainly have some fantastic summer maxi dresses. I love the dipped hemline too, it's those little details that really make the difference.

Now I've had a baby, my body shape has definitely changed, I have a mummy belly (no body shame, I grew a beautiful human and my body deserves to be celebrated!) however I now find that high waisted style dresses seem to flatter my new figure more than before. With this in mind I decided to style mine for everyday wear with a killer leather jacket and a pair of flats. I've worn this on a night out with a nice chunky belt and a killer pair of boots too and it deffo gave me that more 'alternative' edge which I'm so comfortable with!
This is definitely a dress for all occasions and can be dressed up or worn for everyday, even though summer is coming to an end, I can see me wearing this into the autumn months.

The only fault I have with this dress are it's labeled as red on the River Island website, it most definitely isn't red. It is very, very orange. With that said I've had endless compliments on not only the bright colour but the fit too!

So if your in the market for a new maxi, you really can't go wrong with this little gem! I can honestly see this coming out year after year when I'm in need of a colour hit.
