Boots Beauty Box - #FaceOff

I unexpectedly got some amazing blogger mail this week. A random box appeared full of gorgeous makeup from Boots for me to review! Is there anything better than unexpected makeup?! The Boots Beauty Box #FaceOff is full of amazing products that I haven't tried before so I couldn't wait to share.

Inside this box of makeup mystery was 5 products that personally I'd never tried before, for me it contained a few misses but it's also opened my eyes to a whole new world of makeup that I wouldn't have ever picked up in Boots.

I'll start with the Soap & Glory 2 in 1 Brow Filling Pencil & Brush.

I'm a massive fan of brow products and use anything from pencils, wax, powders and mascaras so I was really looking forward to this one. Unfortunately for me it just didn't offer what I look for in a good brow product.

It's really hard to apply and due to it being a mechanical twist to get the product out, it's super easy to snap as the product itself is so thin. It also seems to drag and took me ages to get any colour on my brows but on the plus the brush is lovely and does help blend the product in.
Sadly this colour was too dark for me so I wouldn't use it anyway but it's definitely not one that I'd be purchasing or recommending anyone to buy.

Here's another one I was super excited to receive but not sure it was for me; until I tried it.
The Sleek Goodnight Sweetheart Limited Edition Eye Shadow Palette offers an amazing array of gorgeous eyeshadows. While eye shadow is a product I tend to stay away from as my blending skills need some work, this palette is perfect for a total beginner like me or a more skilled user.

It contains 12 gorgeous neutral colours perfect for any season and full of glittery/metallic goodness. I've been after some super glittery eyeshadows for a while as I like using them under my eye and these fit the bill perfectly.
They are highly pigmented, glide on without dragging and last for hours without any glitter fall out. They are an awesome range of build-able colours even for a novice like me!

Top row swatches, top to bottom - Seduction, Velvet Wrap, Romance, Lingerie, Dusk and L.O.V.E

Bottom row swatches, top to bottom - By The Fireside, Hold Me Tight, Sweet Dreams, Love Is In The Air, Snuggle and Sleeping Beauty.

Oh I do love a good contour palette and this Kate by Rimmel Sculpting Palette is a perfect go to daily. Highlight, Contour and Blush all in one easy to use pack with instructions on the back on where to place them. Only downside is it doesn't come with any sort of applicator as this would be a perfect little one to pop in a bag for on the go application.

This has really pigmentation that you can build. The highlighter is more shimmery than anything so it's perfect for everyday use, the contour offers a lovely matte finish and the blush is a gorgeous natural pink.

This really is the perfect sculpting kit for every day makeup. It gives you that hint without being ultra noticeable and it's got a lovely long lasting finish. I wore this on a night out and even hours later I didn't need to touch it up. Score!

Who doesn't love a good nude lipstick? This one from Maybelline Colour Sensational range in Fairly There is a great choice. However the smell of it is revolting sweet. It has a super strong, white chocolate smelling scent that just doesn't go away. I didn't think it would be too bad once I had the product one but nope. It just doesn't leave!

I really love the colour and the texture of this lipstick but the smell just completely turns me off and it's something I just can't get over. It's like a cheap air freshener and unfortunately one I'd avoid.

I just had to end on this one because I've fallen head over heels in love with a product I never in a million years would have picked up if I saw it on a shelf.
Maybelline Colour Sensation Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Electric Pink, oh how I love you so.

This liquid lipstick makes no apologies for being bold and bright. It goes on exactly how you see in the tube with a super easy glide on application and some serious lasting power.

I wore this for around 5 hours at a high tea (eating & drinking!) and I didn't have to top it up once. It still looked as good as it did when I put it on. It doesn't dry your lips out and doesn't turn chalky as it dries, what can I say? I'm totally in love.
Thankfully unlike it's nude cousin, it doesn't have a hideously sweet scent! Wahoo!

This was what I looked like the other night using the Rimmel Sculping Palette, Vivid Liquid Lipstick and Snuggle under my eye from the Sleek eyeshadow palette. My makeup lasted all evening!

Have you tried any of these products?

Until next time,

  1. I love little beauty boxes!! That maybelline lipstick is lush!! I'm still yet to try sleek as a brand but I really want to!

  2. It's great to hear good things about the sleek eye shadow pallet as I've had my eye on that! Love this beauty box!! Thank you for sharing xx

  3. This looks a lovely little lot of goodies - i adore the lipstick colour and it really suits you. I've tried a couple of different Soap & Glory makeup products and I can't say I have ever been overly impressed with any of them.
