5 Easy Ways To Improve Your SEO

Let's face it, if your a blogger you've probably spent hours of your life into your blog and content. You've spent days writing, editing photos and marketing your blog to get the best response from your readers. You've probably searched forums to get some tips to improve you DA but what about your SEO?

Improve Your SEO

SEO - Search Engine Optimisation

In a nutshell it means how high your website or blog appears on search engine results. The more SEO friendly your blog is, the higher you rank.

No one wants to spend all that time and effort only for your content to never be found by organic searches on search engines yet it's one of those super easy things that most people don't know how to or forget to do. Once you know what to look for, you'll be surprised just how many blogs don't do it!

1. Blog Post Titles
Keep them snappy and too the point. I hate the term 'buzz words' but include what the post is about. You've got to think about how you would search for something online 'plus size jeans' or 'chocolate pancake recipe' instead of 'skinny jean fashion' or 'jewellery to die for'. In reality posts like wishlists are brilliant for your current readers but very unlikely to be clicked on organically by new readers. Keywords are what search engines pick up on, so get to the point and leave the more descriptive writing for the post.

2.Image Titles, Alt Tags and Title Text
One super easy way to help your SEO is to take the time to title your photos, fill in your alt tags and image title text.
Say goodbye to the days of uploading image IMG7000-1 and hello to a title that actually corresponds to the blog your writing. No one ever searches for 'Image 693' they search for the thing they are looking for such as 'improve my SEO', 'Rimmel mascara review'.
Alt tags are important too as these are again the keywords people search for and these will help search engines find your image.
Title text is a great way to help your images get picked up by search engines too! Just make sure you include the keywords of your post and keep it short and sweet.

3. Duplicate Content
Having duplicate content on your blog can make search engines think your site is full of spam.
Try to make your content as original as possible and turn down PR's who offer you pre-written content as chances are it's already posted on someone else's blog, even if they tell you it's especially written for your site.

4. Back Links
Back link whenever you can. Take part in tag posts, comment on other blogs, write guest posts for other sites, join forums.... anything to help get your site out there!
The higher quality of sites your link too, the higher your site will rank!

5. New And Evergreen Content
Search engines adore new content, so post regularly with original content.
Search engines also love evergreen content - the content that never gets old. Trends, fads and product reviews will at some point in time be redundant while general posts that can be read years after they are written are fab. This doesn't mean you need to avoid trends or fads but keep in mind that they might have an expiry date!
Keep posts up to date by going back to older posts and updating them. Maybe your opinion has changed or the product you've linked too is now broken? Make sure content is relevant.

SEO doesn't have to be the headache that it can be! With a few simple steps you can improve your sites SEO without the hassle!
